Abstract

Os estudos mais avançados em ciências cognitivas indicam que a percepção que os seres humanos têm do mundo é construída tanto a partir de processos cognitivos quanto de estímulos perceptivos. Nesta comunicação, veremos como isso atribui uma função especial à memória nos processos cognitivo-perceptuais, uma vez que é a partir da experiência adquirida nos processos cognitivos à medida que o cérebro reconstrói a informação relevante. Isso abre uma linha muito produtiva de colaboração de arqueologia e ciências históricas em tópicos que são geralmente ligados quase exclusivamente às neurociências e ciências cognitivas. A materialidade é mostrada como um agente efetivo no processo de percepção, condicionando o olhar e abrindo caminho para a historicidade da percepção. Vamos tentar examinar essa relação com evidências experimentais e uma série de propostas que nos permitam investigar, em particular, uma possível arqueologia da percepção visual.
