In almond [Prunus dulcis (Mill.) D.A. Webb], the appearance of multiple embryos within the same seedcoat has been described in seeds from different Californian cultivars including ‘Nonpareil’, ‘Price’, ‘Sonora’, ‘Jiml’, ‘Carmel’, ‘Johlyn’ and ‘Mission’ (Kester and Gradziel, 1996; Micke et al., 1996-2001).
