[EN] From records of the large pelagic recreational fishery with trolling line, data on the capture of Tetrapturus belone Ralinesque, 1810 and Tetrapturus albidus Poey, 1861 in the Balearic Sea are reported. The distribution of these and other istiophorid species in the Mediterranean Sea is discussed. Between 1995 and 1997, 39 T. belone were captured. This species is a poorly known Mediterranean endemism. Data from its distribution, length-weight relationship and population structure are given. The capture of two specimens of T. albidus, an Atlantic species rarely caught in the Mediterranean, is also reported, which represents the first record of this species in the Balearic Sea
