Presentación. Historia de los jóvenes de América Latina

Abstract

La historia de la juventud como grupo de edad y, por tanto, como grupo social, se está convirtiendo en una de las áreas de investigación más dinámicas en la historiografía (entendida como disciplina que estudia la historia) contemporaneísta de Europa Occidental. A pesar de ello, ha tenido un desarrollo desigual en los diferentes países, siendo especialmente importante en el mundo anglosajón y alemán. Sin embargo, ya estamos lejos de la época en que se consideraba que las culturas juveniles habían aparecido, casi súbitamente, a partir del fin de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y que la primera oleada de movilización juvenil se produjo en torno a los diferentes mayos de 1968. En el año en que se conmemora el 50 aniversario de éstos, no está de más destacar que históricamente, la movilización juvenil en general - y estudiantil en concreto- ya habían adquirido un carácter internacional y de masas en los años treinta del siglo XX. en este número monográfico nos planteamos analizar en primer lugar la historiografía sobre la juventud para después tratar la historia de los jóvenes en diferentes países representativos de los diversos contextos de América, como Argentina, México, Chile o Colombia, y que, más allá de las escalas nacionales, pueden contribuir a reflejar las influencias recíprocas que se dieron entre diversos países y continentes.
