Algunas rarezas léxicas en Coluto de Licópolis

Abstract

[EN] This paper provides a study of five hapax legomena in The Rape of Helen of Colluthus of Lycopolis, namely, ἐφεδριάω, κατοπτευτήρ, λιθοκρήδεμνος, ὑποχραίνομαι and ὑψίδομος. In each case, we analyze the type of compound and its meaning according to the etymology and, if accurate, we offer small textual notes illustrating the transmission of the word and the appropriateness of considering it a hapax. Neither Colluthus’ lexical variation to express the same meaning is neglected, nor the use of other forms in his work that may have encouraged the formation of these new words. Special attention is paid to possible models of composition of these terms in the previous and contemporary Greek literature and similar compounds of other authors are examined. In short, these lines expose a lexicographical study that contributes to value our author’s lexical originality.
