This PhD thesis has been focused on the study of the molecular basis of respiratory infection by the bacterium Haemophilus influenzae, a member of the human respiratory microbiome, but also an opportunistic pathogen of main relevance in the progression of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
