"De siempre ha sío aquí". Sobre los nuevos usos de la tradición

Abstract

[EN] Using the celebration of an Easter week procession in a small village in Ávila as a basis for reflection, this article discusses new uses for tradition and claims that in order to analyze them we should go beyond superficial analyses based on nostalgic visions of the past. In an attempt to conduct such an insightful analysis, the author states that in this heterogenous society where the multitude of individual positions do not necessarily lead to cohesive social networks today’s traditions should not be understood as recollections of the past but as projections of the future.
