Abstract

Esta obra de Laura Giraudo es la traducción del italiano al español de su trabajo original titulada: Distanze da superare. I governi rivoluzionari in Messico e la trasformazione culturale di indios e contadini, publicada en el año 2003. La traducción fue realizada por Jaime Riera Rehren y cuenta con un prólogo de Marcello Carmagnani. Según la explicación de la autora, este trabajo no tiene mayores cambios que el reajuste de la bibliografía y la renovación de algunos argumentos, pero en general respetó la investigación original publicada en 2003. Se trata de un trabajo de gran envergadura que se destaca por el hecho de haber utilizado un gran número de fuentes primarias inéditas, que al parecer no han sido utilizadas hasta el momento por otras investigaciones. En esta investigación, L. Giraudo nos explica de qué manera se dieron los alcances y los límites de la integración cultural y educativa, que fue promovida por los gobiernos posrevolucionarios mexicanos hacia los sectores populares, específicamente el que se refiere a las comunidades indígenas y campesinas de principios de siglo XX
