Mujeres genetistas: una aproximación histórica

Abstract

[EN] Studies on the history of women and gender, as well as more recent researches on the history of biol-ogy and genetics, have shown that the more you look for women the more you find them. Women have always contributed to the production of knowledge and the de-velopment of its different branches, although they have been excluded from the historiography of science and recognition. By reviewing the role of women in the his-tory of biology and genetics, from those who married col-leagues to those who remained single, this work is a con-tribution to its recovery in the scientific and cultural space and also in the academic and educational sphere. Thus, the story of science is moving closer to the collective work of women and men, refuting the conventional narrative which presents science as the individual achievements of founding fathers and male geniuses.
