The formation of contemporary Brazil is closely linked to migratory phenomenon, in a process of continuity and interruptions. By the mid 20th century, the country’s population comprised 51.944.000 inhabitants coming from four continents, which led to the multiethnic composition of Brazil’s society today. In a decade, the population rose to 70.191.370 inhabitants, which led to a flourishing period of its history, and witnessed the transformation of a traditional capital of European air into another with an avant-garde and transcultural court. The following article is based on a recent Hispanic narrative, and will analyse the Spanish Galician presence in Rio, the Carioca universe and its cultural framework.
