[ES] En este artículo se analizan los principales países exportadores de aceite de oliva a nivel internacional. España ocupa un lugar privilegiado seguido de Italia, Túnez, Grecia y Portugal. Los tres mercados consumidores principales son Europa (liderado por España), Estados Unidos (liderado por Italia) y Brasil (liderado por Portugal). En la cuenca mediterránea, Túnez se centra en el envío a España e Italia. El potencial, pero de bajo volumen hoy en día son Marruecos, Turquía y Palestina. En el hemisferio sur también con bajo volumen exportable pero con capacidad comercial destacan Chile (orientado a los Estados Unidos) y Argentina (orientado a Europa, especialmente a España). La baja similitud de los mapas de competitividad entre los países exportadores indica cambios en la posición comercial debido a ventajas comparativas o circunstancias del mercado en lugar de una tendencia a especializarse. El mundo del aceite de oliva experimenta cambios estructurales, siendo el más relevante en el modelo de producción, pero también observamos en las posiciones comerciales a nivel de las empresas.
[EN] International competitiveness of virgin olive oil. This article analyzes the main exporting countries of olive oil at the international level. Spain occupies a privileged place followed by Italy, Tunisia, Greece and Portugal. The three main consumer markets are Europe (led by Spain), the United States (led by Italy) and Brazil (led by Portugal). In the Mediterranean Basin, Tunisia focuses on shipping to Spain and Italy. Potential but low volume today are Morocco, Turkey and Palestine. In the southern hemisphere also with low exportable volume but commercial capacity stands out Chile (oriented to the United States) and Argentina (oriented to Europe, particularly Spain). The low similarity of competitiveness maps among exporting countries indicates changes in commercial positioning due to comparative advantages or market circumstances rather than a tendency to specialize. The world of olive oil undergoes structural changes, being the most relevant in the production model, but we also observe in the commercial positions at the level of the companies.
