Manejo del riego de olivares en seto a partir de medidas en suelo y planta

Abstract

En las últimas tres décadas se ha fomentado notablemente la investigación en olivicultura, realizándose hoy en día un manejo de las plantaciones de olivar más racional que hace unos años. Uno de los problemas aún por resolver, sin embargo, es el de la recolección de la aceituna. Si la variedad es para aceite, la recolección supone un 40% de los costes de obtención del producto; si es de mesa, supone alrededor del 75% de los costes y tiene unas necesidades de mano de obra cada vez más difíciles de satisfacer. El olivar en seto, también conocido como olivar superintensivo o de alta densidad, surge a principios de los 90 para paliar este inconveniente, ya que su marco de plantación y su sistema de formación permiten la recolección con vendimiadora. En este libro se exponen aspectos fundamentales de la respuesta del olivo al riego en olivar en seto, destacando aquellos que, como el control del vigor, son de particular importancia en este tipo de plantaciones. De esta forma se comentan las estrategias de riego más usadas en olivar, especialmente las más recomendadas para plantaciones en seto, las medidas de agua en suelo necesarias para el manejo del riego y los aparatos disponibles para hacerlas. Asimismo se aborda el manejo del riego a partir de esas medidas, con una discusión sobre la correcta localización de los sensores y la interpretación de los datos. Este trabajo va dirigido a los responsables del riego de olivares en seto en los que esa práctica se haga a partir de medidas de agua en suelo y planta.
