Análisis de redes sociales en epidemiología: los ungulados del Parque Nacional de Doñana como caso de estudio

Abstract

Los análisis de redes sociales (ARS) son herramientas útiles para describir interacciones dentro y entre grupos de sujetos relacionados. En un contexto epidemiológico, los ARS permiten comprender las posibles vías de transmisión de patógenos y, por tanto, son de utilidad para desarrollar estrategias de control efectivas; son especialmente relevantes para el estudio de enfermedades multi-hospedador como la tuberculosis bovina en el centro-sur de España. Usando collares de proximidad y estaciones base (EB), el objetivo de este estudio es: (i) describir las interacciones intra-e interespecíficas entre ungulados silvestres y domésticos en el Parque Nacional de Doñana (PND); e (ii) identificar individuos o especies con mayor tendencia a contactar. En julio de 2015 se marcaron ciervos (n=4), gamos (n=4), jabalíes (n=5) y vacas (n=7), y se colocaron 16 EB en diferentes puntos de riesgo de presencia ambiental de micobacterias. Tras más de 200 días de seguimiento, no se observaron contactos directos entre individuos (<3 m), pero se obtuvieron 655 interacciones potenciales (<20 m). El 38.6% de las interacciones ocurrieron entre individuos marcados, de éstas la mayoría fueron intraespecíficas, y entre vacas. El ARS agregó los nodos (individuos y EB) en dos grupos, indicando cierto grado de aislamiento geográfico entre ellos. Sin embargo, epidemiológicamente ambos grupos fueron conectados por puntos agua; esto es, a través de 2 puntos de agua que usaba una vaca, cada uno vinculado a uno de los grupos, se pudieron conectar ambos grupos. El ganado bovino, además, presentólos valores más elevados en las medidas de centralidad del ARS. Estos resultados preliminares son de utilidad para comprender cómo se estructura la comunidad de hospedadores y cuál es el papel de cada una de las especies/puntos de riesgo en el mantenimiento de dicha estructura. Esta aproximación permitirá generar información relevante para el control de enfermedades en la interfaz doméstico-silvestre.
