Situación sanitaria de carnívoros silvestres en Castilla-La Mancha: preparando el terreno para el lince ibérico

Abstract

Para poder proceder a la reintroducción de una especie en territorios en los que se ha extinguido, es necesario corregir las causas que provocaron esa extinción. Existe poca información sobre las causas de la extinción del lince ibérico (Lynx pardinus) en Castilla-La Mancha (CLM). En otras áreas de su distribución, el lince se ha visto afectado por procesos infecciosos. El objetivo de este estudio es identificar aquellos agentes infecciosos que circulan en la comunidad de carnívoros simpátricos en CLM. Para ello, se muestrearon las dos áreas destinadas a la reintroducción del lince: Sierra Morena Oriental (SMO) y Montes de Toledo (MT). La monitorización sanitaria consistió en (i) una vigilancia pasiva mediante el muestreo de cadáveres procedentes de atropellos o del control autorizado de depredadores y (ii) una vigilancia activa mediante la captura, muestreo y suelta de individuos vivos. En total, se muestrearon 220 individuos de las especies: zorro (Vulpes vulpes), garduña (Martes foina), gineta (Genetta genetta), turón (Mustela putorius), meloncillo (Herpestes ichneumon), nutria (Lutra lutra), tejón (Meles meles), gato doméstico (Felis silvestris catus) y gato montés (Felis silvestris silvestris). El suero se analizó mediante ELISA para la detección de anticuerpos. Las tasas de prevalencia obtenidas fueron: 70% de positivos para el virus de la leucemia felina (FeLV), 41% coronavirus felino (FCoV), 16% moquillo canino (CDV), 13% Complejo Mycobacterium tuberculosis (CMT), 0% virus de inmunodeficiencia felina (FIV) y 0% parvovirus canino. El gato doméstico y sus híbridos mostraron una elevada seroprevalencia frente a FeLV y FCoV (100%), lo que puede suponer un riesgo para el lince y el gato montés. Respecto a CDV, la especie con mayor seroprevalencia fue el zorro (20%), mientras que en el caso del CMT, causante de la tuberculosis animal, la especie con mayor prevalencia fue el tejón (33%), seguido por el zorro (14%). Este trabajo demuestra la circulación de agentes patógenos, como el FeLV y CMT, entre carnívoros simpátricos del lince ibérico que pueden suponer un riesgo para la especie, por lo que consideramos necesaria una vigilancia sanitaria continuada.
