Virtuosismes lèxics més enllà de la literatura

Abstract

[EN] In this paper we compare the will of the janitor of Urgell’s Church, Guillem Gualter, document written by a young clergyman named Berenguer on 5 July 1086, and its sacramental publication, dated in September 17 of the same year and dictated by the cultivated jurist Ermengol of Urgell. In the writing of the sacramental publication Ermengol replaces some terms with others of the same meaning, which produces some pairs of synonyms. Those are interesting for Mediaeval Latin Lexicology because they operate as true glosses: excamiatio – comutatio, ferrannus – albus, psalterium – nablum, mediocris – medioximus and vinum moderatum – merum limphaticum.
