Memoria de una batalla: Almansa en el imaginario colectivo del siglo XVIII

Abstract

El 25 de abril de 1707 tenía lugar en Almansa una de las batallas clave de la Guerra de Sucesión Española. Tan relevante, que sería oscurecida por la historiografía contemporánea, más centrada en, precisamente, sus enormes consecuencias. El fin de este artículo es volver al siglo XVIII para valorar el ensamblaje de la batalla en la evolución del tratamiento de la Guerra de Sucesión y del discurso de legitimación y justificación borbónico. A su vez, se tienen también en consideración el relato austracista y el impacto internacional de Almansa. Este estudio se enmarca en la tesis doctoral “La movilización europea de recursos en la Guerra de Sucesión Española: La batalla de Almansa (1707)”.
