De la corteza de la Dracaena draco L. se han aislado diosgenina, neoruscogenina y una nueva tetrahidroxisapogenina espirostánica, dracogenina Ia, cuya estructura se ha establecido como (20S, 22S, 23S, 24S)-espirost-5,25(27)-dien-1β,3β,23,24 tetrol por métodos químicos y espectroscópicos.
