Abstract

En el presente trabajo se estudian 752 ejemplares de ácaros oribátidos procedentes de las islas de Santa María y Säo Miguel (Azores) que fueron enviados al autor por el Sr. DALBERTO TEIXEIRA POMBO, de Vila do Porto (Isla de Santa María, Azores, Portugal). Los citados ejemplares pertenecen a 31 especies, de las que 8 son nuevas para la ciencia; además se han creado dos nuevas subespecies. Las especies nuevas son las siguientes: Archiphthiracarus atlanticus n. sp., Euphthiracarus excultus n.sp., Hermanniella incondita n.sp., Damaeus (Eudamaeus) pomboi n.sp., Metabelbella interlamellaris n.sp., Gustavia oceanica n.sp., Parachipteria weigmanni n.sp. y Galumna rasilis n.sp.; las dos nuevas subespecies son: Nothrus palustris azorensis n. subsp. y Xenillus discrepans azorensis n. subsp. Otros hallazgos interesantes son los de Steganacarus hirsutus PÉREZ-IÑIGO), 1974, especie frecuente en la Península Ibérica; Ceratozetes simulator PÉREZ-IÑIGO, 1969, hasta ahora solo conocida del norte de España; Lucoppia burrowsi (MICHAEL, 1890) muy abundante, que ha permitido comprobar que Lucoppia spinosissima (MIHELIC, 1956) es un sinónimo; y especies macaronésicas como Dorycranosus angustatus WEIGMANN, 1976; Liacarus mucronatus WILLMANN, 1939; Liacarus madeirensis WILLMANN, 1939 y Melanozetes azoricus WEIGMANN, 1976.
