Reconocimiento sísmico de la Cerdanya (Pirineos Orientales). Primeros resultados

Abstract

Un primer reconocimiento sísmico de la región de la Cerdanya (Pirineos Orientales) se ha llevado a cabo en octubre de 1983, con la instalación de una red temporal de dieciséis estaciones portátiles. La actividad sísmica detectada ha sido relativamente débil (M<2) y dispersa, lo que aconseja la realización de futuros estudios de mayor duración y cobertura espacial, así como la instalación de alguna estación de registro permanente.Contrariamente a otras zonas pirenaicas, en la región estudiada la base de la corteza no parece presentar discontinuidades o saltos bruscos notables, según indica el análisis de los distintos telesismos obtenidos. e los registros próximos se desprenden también algunas anomalías o caracteristicas estructurales, por ejemplo un espesor del orden de 1 km, de los sedimentos neógenos que rellenan la cubeta.Como complemento, se ha estudiado el terremoto del 23-7-83, M=4.0, que puede asociarse con la falla de Mantet-Fillols, según indican el epicentro y la solución focal obtenidos.

Este estudio ha sido financiado por la Universidad de Barcelona (Ajut ala Investigació cientifica) por la Comissió Interdepartamental de Recerca i Innovació tecnológica (CIRIT) de la Generalitat de Catalunya, por la Comisión Asesora de Investigación Científica y Técnica MEC proyecto 1666-82 C03, y se inscribe dentro de un programa general de estudios llevado a cabo entre los Deparamentos de Física de la Tierra y del Cosmos. Geomorfologia y Tectónica, y Prospección Geológica y Geofísica de la Universidadede Barcelona.
