Abstract

[EN] The present work is divided into two parts: the first incluides a complilation and discussion of the exact system of the Mediterranean Centracantidae, wich as time goes on has suffered a lot of alterations respecting the number of the species wich are enclosed in this family. We have realize a conscientious investigation of the differen species wich are admitted by various authors and we consider with Sei that the species of this family -letting alone that the Centracanthus cirrus Raf. is not found in the waters of the Adriatic Sea- have to be reduced to: Spicara smaris L., Spicara chryselis C.V., Spicara maena L. The second part comprises biological investigation of Spicara chryselis C.V., of which we have analysed 4510 individuals during the cycles [...] Maena vulgaris, Maena jusculum, Maena osbeckii, Maena vomerina, Smaris vulgaris, Smaris insidiator, Smaris alcedo, Smaris chryselis, Smaris gargarella, Centracanthus cirrus, Smaris royeri, Sparus argenteus, Sparus polynimus ?, Smaris italicus ?, Smaris ornatus, Smaris smaris, Sparus bilobatus ?, Spicara flexuosa, Smaris gracilis [...]
