Abstract

The total catch by Spanish otter and pair trawlers in Subareas 1-5 and Stat. Area 6 in 1972 was 233,685 tons, a decrease of 35,500 tons from 1971. Cod constituted the bulk of the catch (218,000 tons), followed by squids (7,662 tons) and haddock (5,594 tons). Except for squids, which were caught in a specialized fishery in Subarea 5 and Stat.
