La Federación Española de Actividades Subacuáticas está elaborando un proyecto para la creación de una reserva submarina en las islas Medas (Gerona) que, a unos fines puramente deportivos y turísticos, une el interés científico mostrtado ya por un número creciente de investigadores que, provistos de escafandra, se dedican al estudio de las poblaciones vegetales y animales en toda la región de la Costa Brava.
