Abstract

[EN] The mediterranean Hippolyte related to H. varians is named H. holthuisi n. sp. and differences separing it from H. varians are detailed. Adults are smaller, rostrum has a different shape, the three joints of the carpus in the second pair show different portions (in H. holthuisi first join is always longer that the sum of the remnants), ambulatory legs are slender and show reduction of the sexual dilatation of propodia, and eggs are relatively larger
