La pesca de arrastre en la provincia de Tarragona

Abstract

El éxito logrado con la explotación racional de la plataforma costera de la provincia de Castellón ha dado lugar a que los estudios realizados en dicha zona se extendieran a otras provincias de nuestras costas mediterráneas. En esta breve nota expondremos algunos aspectos y resultados del estudio que, en colaboración con BAS, MORALES y LOPEZ GOMEZ, venimos realizando en las costas de Tarragona, desde comienzos del pasado otoño. Antes de exponer el resumen de nuestros trabajos, veamos el tipo de plataforma de esta provincia comparada con la de Castellón. Dejando aparte la naturaleza del fondo, asi como la distribución de las zonas rocosas no rastreables, consideremos únicamente el aspecto batimétrico de unas y otras zonas. La carta hidrográfica, correspondiente a las costas de Castellón, nos muestra una plataforma extensa, de pendiente muy suave, especialmente frente al Grao y al puerto de Vinaroz. Una distribución batimétrica parecida, continua en las zonas situadas más al norte de la desembocadura del Ebro, alcanzando prácticamente todo el golfo de San Jorge, en cambio a la altura de Tarragona, dla plataforma se estrecha, pasando a ser de pendiente más pronunciada y, en conjunto, mostrando la configuración que observamos en las costas catalanas.
