Sobre las pruebas de selectividad en los artes de arrastre

Abstract

Dentro de la ponencia presentada por nuestro Laboratorio en el III Consejo Económico Sindical de Castellón, y en la conclusión nº 3, se recomendaba la ampliación de las mallas en uso en los artes de arrastre. Este tema ha sido causa de discusión y desacuerdo entre pescadores y biólogos pesqueros. Aquellos alegan en contra de la ampliación que los peces, al salir del copo, están muertos, y que las mallas permanecen cerradas durante el rastreo abriéndose al ser izado el arte y, sólo entonces, podrían pasar los peces ya muertos. Sobre ello ya se hablado en numerosas ocasiones, incluso en la I Reunión sobre Productividad y Pesquerías, en que F. VIVES se refirió a los artes de arrastre. Ha quedado plenamente demostrado, mediante cámaras cinematográficas y la observación directa de los hombres rana, que los peces pequeños, en su mayoría, salen del arte durante el arrastre y nadan normalmente. Junto con estas experiencias hay que considerar la realizada por GOODCHILD, quien con un sencillo artificio pudo comprobar que el 80-90 % de Ios peces escapados lo fueron mientras el arte estaba trabajando.
