Abstract

[EN] Characters used in Goniomma taxonomy are reviewed. These features ares clypeal margin, distance from eyes to front head border, cephalic sculpture, thorax sculpture, transverse head pilosity length, body colour, petiole basis margin, epinotal spine shape, and angle between spines and epinote. In an attempt to discard misleading characters a division of them all is made into quantitative and qualitative ones, Clypeal margin and distance from eyes to front head border prove to be qualitative and discontinuous, the only valid ones according to classical taxonomy. The remainder is quantitative and cannot be used without a lot of controversy. It is to be emphasized that the classical taxonomists common practice confronts with their theoretical opinions which are those that are used in this paper. It is however author's belief that all the characters of this genus have to be considered quantitative and the proposing provi sory. On lacking individuals belonging to G. burri and G. punicum, it has been imposible to study all the Goniomma-group which has been reduced to G. hispanicunt (ANDRÉ) and G. blanci (ANDRÉ) on the basis of this review.
