[ES] La distribución espacial del fitoplancton presenta una elevada heterogeneidad, lo que plantea problemas importantes en relación con la estructura y funcionamiento de los ecosistemas acuáticos (HUTCHISON, 1961; MARGALEF, 1963, 1967, 1976; PLATT y DENMAN, 1 975). Entre los muchos aspectos teóricos interesantes relacionados con el estudio de la variabilidad de las poblaciones de fitoplancton, está el de los modelos matemáticos propuestos para interpretarla.
