Abstract

[ES] Las dimensiones de los individuos de una especie no sólo varían en el curso del desarrollo, sino que, independientemente del ciclo individual, pueden tener una determinación genética y ambiental que se manifiesta en la variación de las dimensiones de los individuos de una misma edad, dejándose sentir especialmente cuando se comparan poblaciones diferentes. En varios trabajos anteriores (véase especialmente Margalef, 1944, 1948, 1950) se ha tratado incidentalmente de la dependencia del tamaño absoluto en relación con factores externos, especialmente con la temperatura, y recientemente se han investigado con más cuidado las variaciones de tamaño —y forma— de una clorofícea (Scenedesmus obliquus) en diferentes ambientes (Margalef, 1953, en prensa). Se tiene en preparación un resumen del estado actual de los conocimientos sobre la dependencia de las magnitudes de los organismos en relación con los factores del ambiente. [...]
