Algunos tardígrados de Fernando Póo

Abstract

[EN] Among the mosses and lichens in the varied plant material brought back by an expedition of Spanish naturalists to the island of Fernando Póo in the Gulf of Guinea (Africa), some Tardígrados were found and they were studied. The number of types and different species also, in each sample was very small, in comparison with those found in other less warm latitudes. Amongst the latter the following could be classified : Macrobiotus richtersii, Hypsibius (D.) scoticus f. ommaiophora, Hypsibius convergens, Macrobiotus hufelandii and Echiniscus pooensis, this last new to Science. The new species belongs to the groupe Echiniscus (E.) spinulosus, and has a third median píate and lateral appendixes on B, C, D, and E, besides the dorsal spines on C, and D, which are very wide and strong.
