Abstract

Cuando se sultivan en condiciones uniformes y reguladas diversas especies, se manifiesta siempre el mismo orden de dominancia, practicamente independiente de la proporción en que se hallaban presentes en la siembra inicial. Así, combinando diversamente cuatro especies de agua dulce, se va a parar a la serie siguiente: Scenedesmus oblicuas, Ankistrodemus of. nannoselene, Stichococus bacillaris, Scenedesmus quatricauda, en que las especíes que anteceden acaban por dominar en el cultivo sobre las que siguen. Este comportamiento no es predecible de las respectivas velocidades de multiplicación en cultivos unialgales en las mismas condiciones. [...] El medio liquido es el mấs adecuado al intercambio de rnetabolitos y el agua marina o dulce es comparable a un plasma. La bibliografía reciente va acumulando pruebas de la importencia que tienen las substancias que difunden los organismos en el medio y que luego actuan sobre la vida de otras especies no necesarianente del mismo grupo. Los esteroles son un ejemplo de substancias cuyo campo de acción fisiológico es muy vasto. No carece de base imaginar que las acciones ectocrinas puedan exenderse del fitoplancton a los peces.
