Selección de variedades locales de B. rapa para la producción de nabizas y grelos

Abstract

En Galicia, los cultivos de Brassica rapa son los nabos, nabizas y grelos. El cultivo del nabo forrajero ha descendido en los últimos años. Por el contrario, las nabizas y los grelos son un cultivo en alza, ocupando un lugar destacado dentro de la agricultura tradicional gallega. Tanto las nabizas (hojas del periodo vegetativo) como los grelos (brotes florales) tienen su hueco en el mercado y forman parte de numerosos platos típicos gallegos. Desde un punto de vista nutricional se consideran productos con un bajo contenido en grasa y proteína y alto contenido en fibras, vitaminas y minerales (Rosa, 1999). Padilla y otros (2005) realizaron una caracterización primaria de la diversidad y valor agronómico de toda la colección de B. rapa existente en la Misión Biológica de Galicia (MBG), lo que permitió efectuar una primera selección de variedades destacables por su buen comportamiento en campo y su producción hortícola. El objetivo del presente trabajo consiste el estudio del comportamiento agronómico de un conjunto de variedades seleccionadas en zonas típicas de producción en Galicia para comprobar cuál es la variedad más apta para su cultivo como nabizas y/o grelos.
