Envejecimiento demográfico y su impacto en el patrón de morbilidad hospitalaria

Abstract

El proceso de envejecimiento demográfico con la llegada continua de generaciones más abultadas a las edades de vejez, junto con un proceso de sobre-envejecimiento (envejecimiento de los ya viejos) con llegada de más efectivos a la vejez avanzada, repercuten directamente en el volumen total de hospitalizaciones, en la edad media de los pacientes y en su distribución por edad.
