A principal coordinate analysis ‘has been elaborated from Cnidarians collected in benthic samples, in order to investigate their distribution in the sampling area. The first axis only explains a reduced percentage of the total variance, which agrees with the fact that several factors are needed to explain the distribution of species of this group in the benthic communities. However, the main factor seems to be depth (and involved gradients). The fact that Cnidarians as a whole cannot be characterized from an autoecological viewpoint, is discussed
