Selecciones asistida por marcadores y fenotípica para mejorar rendimiento y resistencia en maíz

Abstract

En trabajos previos hemos constatado una correlación genética desfavorable entre el rendimiento del maíz (Zea mays L.) y la longitud de galerías (LG) en caña causadas por el lepidóptero Sesamia nonagrioídes Lef., y se han identificado regiones del genoma donde se co-Iocalizan QTLs para ambos caracteres (Ordás el al., 2010; Butrón et al, 2012). Por esta razón, en la población sintética EPS 12, después de cinco ciclos de selección fenotípica por ambos caracteres se observó una pequeña disminución de la LG y un drástico y significativo descenso del rendimiento (Butrón et al, 2012). El objetívo de este trabajo ha sido comparar la eficiencia de la selección asistida por marcadores SAM versus SF a la hora de mejorar el comportamiento del maíz frente al ataque de Sesamía nonagríoides.
