Abstract

[EN] This work summarizes some of the documentary and artistic examples that enrich the iconographic corpus of Gil de Albornoz and the Colegio de España and its members. Some have gone unnoticed and other have been slightly misinterpreted. These materials help to contextualize some of the crucial moments of the meta-history of Albornoz and his foundation. We focus on the pictorial series of the Aegidian History of the frescoes and the paintings of the ‘Real Colegio de España’, the tomb of the director Simón Rodríguez Laso – a work by Antonio Solá, signed in Rome in 1828 –, the historical collection held at the Royal Palace in Madrid and the only documentary devoted to Cardinal Albornoz, directed by José Antonio Nieves Conde.
