Morfología, distribución geográfica y bionomía en España de la «cuatro colas» Charaxes jasius (L., 1767) (Lep. Nymphalidae)

Abstract

El ninfálido Charaxes jasius (L., 1767) es el único representante en Europa de los Charazidi. Esta tribu está caracterizada por la parcial persistencia de la DC3 en las alas anteriores, debido a lo que la celdilla aparece cerrada en parte por un breve trazo que se destaca de la pero sobre todo la peculiariza una furca de gran longitud formada por las venas R4 y R5, las cuales se separan muy cerca de la extremidad distal de aquélla ; además la R4, a algo más de los 2/3 de su recorrido, en el que va paralela y muy próxima a la R2, se flexiona hacia la costa y continúa luego divergente de ella hasta el termen, equidistante al borde interno. En las alas posteriores la celdilla aparece cerrada, al contrario que en Apaturidi y las otras tribus de la subfamilia, y la Precostal se separa siempre lejos y detrás del punto en que la SC parte de la Mediana anterior ; apréciase además un llamativo alargamiento de M3 y Cu2 a consecuencia de la formación de las respectivas colas.
