Abstract

[EN] A program of germplasm collection, maintenance and characterization involving populations of several cultivated species including bean landraces (Phaseolus vulgaris and P. coccineus) is being carried out at the Misión Biológica de Galicia—CSIC (Pontevedra, Spain). At present there are recorded 840 accessions, most of them being populations from different areas of the Northern Iberian Peninsula. Many of them have been evaluated for agronomical and nutritional value in different environments in order to incorporate some of them to breeding programmes. The germplasm collection includes also 70 pure lines obtained from different common bean populations.
