Abstract

[EN] The aim of this article is to analyse the transformation of the Spanish Socialist Youth Federation (FJS) into an increasingly independent youth movement during the Second Republic. Similarly to some other cases in interwar Europe, the Spanish Socialist Youth growingly became autonomous from its adult counterpart, the Socialist Party. The article focuses on the FJS development of a political programme specifically based on youth claims, the combination of parliamentary and non-parliamentary activities, the FJS relationship with adult organisations and governments and the latter’s reactions to the new youth approaches.
