Abstract

La especie fue descrita por Poda el año 1761 con material de Graz en Estiria, Austria, en la página 77 de Insecta Musei Graecensis, pero durante muchos años ha sido mejor conocida como cyllarus Rottemburg, 1775, publicada de Berlín, en la página 20 del tomo VI del "Anmerkungen zu den Hufnagel'schen Tabellen der Schmetterlinge". Zapater v Korb, en 1883, la citaron por primera vez para España bajo el nombre de cyllarus —usado casi unánimemente para las referencias hispánicas según ejemplares que encontraron en la Sierra de Albarracín, provincia de Teruel.
