Abstract

[EN] Forty—seven landraces of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) from Northwestern Iberian Peninsula have been evaluated at the Misión Biológica de Galicia (Pontevedra, Spain) in field trials carried out during 1987 and 1988. The combined analysis of variance over years shows highly significant differences among varieties for the 15 quantitative traits and indices considered. It seems that there is a considerable amount of genetic diversity in those land races which could permit to characterize them by means of numerical analysis methods based on quantitative traits before including some of them in programs of genetic improvement.
