Abstract

[EN] Computing inbreeding in closed populations under several selection systems. The computation of inbreeding coefficients in small populations under random mating is usually made following the method of the effective population size. There are circumstances, e. g. restrictions for certain kinds of matings, one or more generations of selfing between generations of random mating, etc., that may alter considerably the coefficient calculated by that method. Computing by Cruden’s method the inbreeding coefficient of the progeny resulting from all possible matings allows to obtain the mean inbreeding coefficient and the variance of the population of coefficients. Formulas are presented for three different kinds of experimental plans: 1st, unrestricted random mating; 2nd, recurrent selection in species that can be selfed, and 3rd, maintenance of male strains. The differences between the coefficients calculated by both methods are given for the last two plans.
