Abstract

[ES] La proporción sexual secundaria (sex ratio) de los 25.125 lechones en 2.383 camadas de una piara cerrada consanguínea de ganado porcino Large White fue del 53.90% de machos en el periodo 1931-1985. La distribución de sexos dentro de cada tamaño de camada se ajusta satisfactoriamente a la distribución binomial para una proporción sexual del 54%. Todas las proporciones sexuales correspondientes a diferentes niveles de consanguinidad, salvo la correspondiente a la población base, difieren significativamente del 50%, y son mayores que las proporciones habituales en el ganado porcino. La proporción sexual de las progenies con una consanguinidad media del 61% alcanza el valor del 56,53% de machos y difiere significativamente de la proporción en la población base.

[EN] The sex ratio in a closed herd of Large White swine, computed from 25,125 piglets in 2,383 litters, was 53.90% of males for the period 1931-85. Within each litter size sex ratio fits satisfactorily well to a binomial distribution for a sex ratio of 54% of males/46% of females. For the different inbreeding levels all the sex ratios differed significantly from the ratio 50/50 (with the exception of the base population) and are greater than the figures usually reported for swine. The sex ratio of the progenies with a mean inbreeding of 61% was 56.53% of males, a figure significantly different from the ratio in the base population.
