Abstract

[ES] El estudio de la edad en M. poutassou se basa en la interpretación de las bandas de crecimiento que se presentan en los otolitos de esta especie. Como en la mayoría de los peces, los otolitos alojados en las cámaras óticas son tres en cada una de ellas, uno de los cuales es desproporcionadamente mayor que los otros dos. Este otolito de mayor tamaño es el que se conoce con el nombre de sagita y es también el que se utiliza para el cálculo de la edad deducido de la lectura del número de bandas alternativamente claras y oscuras.
