Abstract

Los avances producidos en el estudio de las rocas silíceas han hecho que el término ópalo sea un término demasiado general. Un estudio serio y objetivo sobre la reactividad del ópalo frente a los álcalis del cemento, hace necesario un conocimiento previo y profundo del ópalo utilizado, no sólo en lo que se refiere a su composición mineralógica sino también a otros aspectos tales como textura que presentan, estructura cristalina e impurezas químicas y mineralógicas asociadas.
