Abstract

Es sabido que en las cercanías de la desembocadura de la mayor parte de los grandes ríos existen importantes pesquerías de moluscos, crustáceos o peces. Este hecho es debido, sobre todo, a que los ríos, bien por los aportes directos o bien por los movimientos que originan a las masas de agua marina próximas, enriquecen con sales minerales las zonas más o menos cercanas a su desembocadura, favoreciendo de este modo el desarrollo del plancton vegetal, primer eslabón de la cadena alimentaria marina.
