Fué patrocinada por SCCR (Conitế Cientiiico de Investigación Oceảnica) y SCAR (Comité Cientifico de Investigación Antártica) y apoyada además por el Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones del Canadå, el Departamento del Ambiente, del Canadá, la Universidad McGili y la ciudad de Montreal.
