Aplicación de la difracción de Rayos-X a la caracterización de materiales cristalinos

Abstract

La difracción de rayos X constituye una herramienta básica para la caracterización de materiales cristalinos ya que, frente a otras técnicas analíticas, permite determinar las fases cristalinas que presenta un material y establecer la forma alotrópica bajo la que se presenta una sustancia. Este seminario se ha enfocado como una guía básica del uso de la difracción de rayos X para la caracterización de materiales cristalinos y no como una introducción teórica sobre la difracción de rayos X. Por esta razón se pretende poner de manifiesto los siguientes puntos: a) No existe una análisis estándar de difracción de rayos X. b) La difracción de rayos X se puede utilizar para analizar y caracterizar varias propiedades de los materiales. c) El análisis de los datos que se obtengan con esta técnica dependerá de la pregunta que se quiera resolver. d) En condiciones ideales, lo parámetros de medida se deberán ajustar convenientemente en función de la información que se desee obtener. e) La comunicación entre el cliente y el personal del laboratorio es crucial. En principio es el cliente el que conoce la naturaleza de la muestra, y por tanto el que puede decidir si el resultado que le entrega el laboratorio es razonable. Para finalizar, se analizarán en detalle una serie de ejemplos prácticos sobre la información que se puede obtener cuando se aplica esta técnica para caracterizar materiales policristalinos.
