[EN] The continental margins register the history of ocean formation. During the last 20 years the knowledge about the structure, formation and evolution of the continental margins has quite improved. Their wide scientific interest is evidenced from multiple perspectives. From a geological-structural point of view, the continental margins represent the transition between the continental and oceanic crusts. From a sedimenatological point of view, they represent the areas where may accumulate high volume of sediments whose register provides information about local, regional and global tectonic, climatic, environmental and oceanographic changes.
