Los artistas del exilio de 1939 en la tierra de los sóviets y el asidero de "lo español”

Abstract

Se presenta en estas páginas una breve aproximación a la trayectoria y los condicionamientos que marcaron la producción creativa de los artistas españoles que, terminada la Guerra Civil española, se exiliaron a la Unión Soviética. Aunque en muchos de estos exiliados existieran nexos ideológicos y voluntad de compromiso político-social, su adaptación fue difícil y las condiciones para la producción y creación artísticas les resultaron particularmente duras, dada la impuesta burocratización en la que el estalinismo fue sumiendo al arte y los restrictivos términos de interpretación del realismo social. En este contexto el refugio en la cultura, estéticas y poéticas de lo español, que en cierto grado se toleró a estos exiliados, resultó clave para mantener el vínculo con el país de origen. «Lo español» resultó para estos artistas peregrinos un verdadero asidero al que vincular su acción creativa para mantener y trasmitir su identidad.
