Abstract

La reunión estaba organizada por las Asociaciones: Systematics Association, Natural Environment Research Council, British Council, British Phycological Society y por el Portsmouth Polytechnic que prestó la infraestructura material para la realización del simposio. Se inscribieron aproximadamente ciento diez personas, setenta de nacionalidad británica, seis de Canadá, cuatro de Irlanda, tres de Bélgica, Holanda y Ghana, dos españoles (el Dr. R.Anadón de la Universidad de Oviedo y yo mismo) y uno de los E.U.A., Alemania Federal, Noruega. y Dinamarca. El peso específico de los participantes en la reunión que estaban vinculados al Natural Environmental Research Council fue notorio y los trabajos teóricamente aplicados de ordenación y "management" fueron muy comentados aunque casi siempre eran simples e insuficientes y desde luego ninguno de los presentados resolvía el problema que se planteaba al principio de las comunicaciones.
